Terms & Conditions – Fount Wood (Pty)Ltd

By engaging with Fount Wood for products or services, you agree to the following terms:

1. Quotations & Pricing
All quotes are valid for 14 days unless stated otherwise. Pricing may vary based on material costs, design changes, or scope adjustments.

2. Custom Work
Most Fount Wood products are custom-made. By confirming an order, you acknowledge that slight variations in wood grain, color, and finish are natural and part of the product’s uniqueness.

3. Payment Terms
A deposit is required to secure your order and begin production. The remaining balance must be paid prior to delivery or collection unless otherwise agreed.

4. Lead Times
Estimated lead times will be provided but may vary depending on workload, material availability, and unforeseen delays. Clients will be kept informed of any significant changes.

5. Cancellations & Refunds
Due to the custom nature of our products, deposits are non-refundable once production has begun.

6. Collection & Delivery
Collection is by appointment only. Delivery can be arranged at an additional cost where applicable.

7. Product Care
Clients are responsible for proper care and maintenance of wood products. Fount Wood is not liable for damage caused by misuse, neglect, or environmental conditions.

8. Limitation of Liability
Fount Wood is not liable for indirect or consequential damages arising from the use of its products.

9. Site Access & Installation Conditions
For items requiring delivery or installation, the client is responsible for ensuring:

  • Adequate access to the property (doorways, staircases, lifts, passages)

  • A clear and safe working area

  • Accurate measurements provided in advance

Fount Wood is not responsible for delays or additional costs caused by restricted access or incorrect information.

10. Measurements & Fit
All custom pieces are made according to agreed measurements.
It is the client’s responsibility to confirm that:

  • The furniture will fit through entry points

  • The final placement area is suitable

Fount Wood is not liable if items cannot be moved into the intended space due to access limitations.

11. Installation Responsibility
Where installation is included:

  • Basic installation is provided unless otherwise specified

  • Any structural modifications (walls, floors, electrical, plumbing) are not included unless agreed beforehand

Fount Wood is not liable for pre-existing structural issues or hidden conditions on-site.

12. Natural Movement of Wood
Wood is a natural material that expands and contracts with changes in temperature and humidity.

Clients acknowledge that:

  • Minor movement, hairline cracks, or slight warping may occur over time

  • These are natural characteristics and not defects

Proper care and environment help minimise these effects.

13. Large Item Handling (Tables & Bulk Pieces)
For large furniture items (e.g. dining tables, boardroom tables):

  • Items may be delivered in sections where necessary

  • Final assembly may take place on-site

Once assembled, these items may be difficult or impossible to move without disassembly.

14. Delivery Risk & Acceptance
Upon delivery or collection:

  • The client (or representative) must inspect the item

  • Any visible issues must be noted immediately

Once accepted, the item is considered in good condition unless otherwise documented.

15. Delays Beyond Control
Fount Wood is not liable for delays caused by:

  • Material shortages

  • Supplier delays

  • Weather conditions (relevant for certain finishes or installs)

  • Load shedding or power interruptions

16. Storage Fees (if applicable)
If a completed item is not collected or delivery cannot be arranged within a reasonable time:

  • Storage fees may apply

  • This will be communicated in advance

17. Care After Installation
Once installed or delivered, responsibility transfers to the client.
Clients are advised to:

  • Avoid excessive moisture or direct sunlight

  • Follow care instructions provided
